Little list of happiness

The end of year can be shitty, the mountains of course work deadlines and exams can be hugely overwhelming. So overwhelming I fact they left me sobbing in tears outside my university with 4 day old hair scraped back, an ex-boyfriends oversized jumper that was covered in paint and mascara all down my face, ready to quit uni and fuck off third year to go into the mundane life of work. In dire need of a cheer up I started to think of all the things that made life a little brighter and better, no matter how trivial and small they are.
Getting my nails done (especially Barbie pink with a bit of sparkle!)
Fresh fake tan that makes me feel skinny
Binge watching musical bootlegs (yeah I know it’s bad, but when its Broadway it’s a need)
Building my friends up. I hate the idea of being bitchy now days. The world is shitty to women enough, we need to help each other feel confident and fab. Tell your mate her hair looks fab if it does, fuck it, tell the random girl walking down the street her outfit is bomb, it might just make their day.
Reading a good book. Especially my growing collection of feminist literature. I’m currently reading Sara Pasco’s Animal and it’s so amazing!
Learning the songs to Mean Girls. There are some real gems of lyrics in the score “this is modern feminism talking, I expect to run the world in shoes I cannot walk in!”
Speaking of musicals, can’t forget Heathers, My new obsession. Okay, maybe the obsession is equally with Barrett Wilbert Weed. She’s so incredible.
My mum staying up late so she can call me when I finish my shift if I’m having a shit day
My Mums roast dinners
My Mum in general
Roast dinners in general
Going out with my work wives #Ledeagavel (they judge me for every move I take, because in all honesty they’re right to judge. But they are the sweetest and cheekiest motherfuckers around and I couldn’t do my shifts without them (still expecting that we’re going to be each other’s wedding witnesses))
My new loves of my life who I met under the most unlikely of circumstances (read my last post to find out) they are such darlings who I have the best of nights and the funniest of mornings with.
Having a good rock out to Bat Out of Hell
My first-class train journeys home, which, like practically all my blog posts, this list is being written on. It’s a little bit of quiet bliss where the country side wizzes by me whilst I sip my cup of tea with show tunes on. (are we picking up on the theme musicals make me happy?)
Literally seeing my mates, old and new doing great things with their lives and being happy
Sunsets
Hazy summer evening BBQs
My Sunday Lunches in spoons (fuck the woman who said we can’t order outside, I will forever continue to do it)
Golden hour
Getting into bed after a long day with my chip mug of green tea
Me and Shans dinner dates, even if she does leave me with all the dishes!
Unicorns
The list could go on and on as there are so many little things that make me smile. So I encourage you to have a think of what would be on your list if you ever feel down because you may be surprised with how filled with happiness your life actually is.
